The Aruna Group which was established in 1980 primarily a rubber dealer initially and has diversified the company’s main focus upon serving rubber products manufacturing companies and rubber export companies in the country. After two decades of such a humble beginning the company embarked into the steel industry in year 2000 as an island wide supplier of builders hardware items to the hardware sector. In the year 2008 Aruna Group entered in to its second diversification business of manufacturing tea under the name of Aruna Tea Factory (Pvt) Ltd (ATFL) in Meegahatenna village, in the Kalutara District with an initial quantity of 8000KG of Green Leaf per day for its production with a 75 staff members. ATFL has widened its reach to 60,000 Kg green leaf for the production process per day and the total staff has increased to 550 staff members at this juncture. ATFL continues with a version, with state-of-the-art technology and has successfully pioneered online bought leaf purchasing and also a fully automated withering system for its newly built CTC production line. ATFL also has acquired the Morapitiya Tea Company (Pvt) Ltd in the year 2016. Further, Passara Tea Factory and Keppetipola Tea Factory in the Uva province, 2017 were acquired respectively. The first commercial export of tea was exported by ATFL, through its newly ventured member company named Ceylon min Export Trading (Pvt) Ltd, which is our export marketing arm in the group.
